  Purpleheart is famous for changing shades and color depending on the climate, exposure to air and the amount of UV or fluorescent light. Freshly cut purpleheart starts off as dull gray, once it fully dries it gets purple and later on red (which is the period we process it and give it to the customer). Over time, depending on the factors mentioned above this species may stay exactly the same or get a warmer or colder tones of purple or red and may even turn to a brown-red shade.
